Coaching Testimonials
I have been a soccer coach in the US since 2001, have licenses from Europe and the US and have enjoyed success on many different levels. Coaching elite clubs in showcases all over the country, coaching State Cup winning teams, ODP and High School Varsity teams.
I have known Peter in a personal and professional capacity for over ten years. He is an innovative, enthusiastic and empathetic coach. He always has the welfare and individual progression of the athlete at the forefront, and combined with his deep knowledge of the game he provides a safe, challenging environment where athletes are provided with the platform to achieve their full potential.
Peter has the experience and knowledge to coach players at any age and skill level, is adept at communicating his message to the players and his vision to the parents. Peter is also a well-respected and recognized goalkeeping coach and a great resource for other coaches.

—Rob Etheridge, Head Boys Coach, Loyola Academy

Our daughter, Maggie Garvey, was coached under Peter’s direction from August 2015 to June 2016 on the FC-1 Academy’s U12 Premier Team. Her player development during this time period was outstanding, and we credit Peter with facilitating this growth. Peter encourages his players to practice skills to enhance their ability to play soccer, rather than to just win games. During games, Peter tracked the performance (ie. number of ball touches, defensive plays, assists) of each player, in order to discuss with them progress and areas for improvement during play. Each and every one of the girls on his team made significant growth under his watch, partly due to the fact that Peter is a teacher, not just a coach. During practice, Peter worked with each player on their individual needs for development. He produced a team of players with great self-confidence, positive attitudes and a mutual respect for one another. According to Maggie herself, “I really liked Peter because he pushed us to do our best and made sure we improved.”
We truly believe that our daughter Maggie has become an improved soccer player under the direction of Peter Hoppock. Peter is an all-around nice guy. He has definitely been her most successful and her favorite coach!

Peter has been our daughter's coach for 2 years, and in that time, she made tremendous progress in the game, both individually and as a team player. Peter focuses on the "long game" - helping the girls become better and more skillful players - not simply on winning. He works on skills, strategy, situational playing, and helping the girls reach their potential. He values intelligence and "smart playing" over showmanship. He understands that only a small fraction of girls will go on to play Division I or on the Olympic Team, so his goal is that all girls will have the skills to play at their own peak level for years to come. He consistently gives the girls constructive feedback and helps them recognize each other's strengths, rather than focusing on their weaknesses. This technique allows them to develop as a team - a true feat with middle-school girls. Peter communicates regularly with parents and helps us understand his philosophy. He is receptive to our concerns and promptly returns phone calls and emails. During games, he strives to positively motivate the girls. Even when he points out errors, he makes sure to give the girls the opportunity to correct and improve them, rather than making them sit on the bench. We would not hesitate to have Peter coach our kids in the future.
